The Las Vegas legend known as the “Rock n’ Roll Chef” has died at the age of 60

Chef Simon’s clients included Mötley Crüe and Cheap Trick.

Kerry Simon, the Las Vegas restaurateur known as the “Rock n’ Roll Chef,” has died at the age of 60 after a two-year battle with multiple-system atrophy (MSA), Simon’s business partner confirmed to The Associated Press.

Simon had restaurants in Las Vegas, including the eponymous Simon at Palms Place, as well as Los Angeles and Atlantic City.

The chef, who became famous for feeding legendary rock bands like Mötley Crüe, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, and Cheap Trick, was bestowed the nickname “Rock n’ Roll Chef” by Rolling Stone magazine.

In 2005, Simon earned the title of Iron Chef when he beat Cat Cora in a hamburger challenge.

According to Simon’s business partner Cory Harwell, the chef was even in the process of planning a fifth restaurant, despite the loss of motor skills from MSA, a degenerative neurological disorder.

“He ate everything and made suggestions and comments and fixes,” Harwell told the AP. “I learned more from him in the past two and a half years than a lifetime of working in and out of kitchens. I'll cherish that forever.”
